Middlesex County Sons of the Legion

About our program

The Sons of The American Legion (SAL) is a program within The American Legion, established in 1932 to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires. It's a group for male descendants of veterans who served during specific periods (WWI, WWII, and later conflicts) and who were eligible for American Legion membership. SAL members, while part of the larger Legion Family, are not a separate entity from The American Legion. Here's a more detailed look:

  • Purpose: SAL's mission is to strengthen the four pillars of The American Legion: patriotism, national security, veterans' affairs, and Americanism.
  • Membership: Membership is open to male descendants (sons, adopted sons, stepsons, grandsons, etc.) of veterans who meet eligibility requirements.
  • Organization: SAL is divided into detachments at the state level and squadrons at the local level. Each squadron is associated with a local American Legion post.

The purpose for Middlesex County SAL

Our purpose is to connect with all of the Middlesex County Squadrons to represent them and address their questions and provide guidence to help make them a productive member of our Legion Family. We believe in the following principals of the Sons of the American Legion.
